The 3020 project outlines a possible scenario that could occur in a thousand years, imagining how e-waste, material waste from the immaterial digital age can interfere with natural geological processes. Taking inspiration from the three models of lithogenesis - sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic - three types of synthetic rocks were created that include scraps from usb cables. The inner filament, formed by an alloy of silver and copper, was cut, oxidized, granulated, mimicking the morphology of the rocks. Thus transformed was included into a transparent epoxy resin.
The metal is grafted - hence the name Graft - into the new mineral in order to underline the hybrid character of this new union between natural and artificial.
Available in satin silver, silver with gold plating or silver with black patina.
