Project 3020 outlines a scenario that could occur in a thousand years, imagining how e-waste, material waste from the immaterial digital age, will interfere with natural geological processes. The patterns engraved with laser markers on silver foil represent a transposition of the natural textures of rocks in the digital world: the stratification of sedimentary rocks becomes a glitch noise, the porosity of volcanic rocks recalls the perforated boards used to insert information into the first computers, the lines of deformation typical of metamorphic rocks are transformed into a bitstream.
The shape obtained from the tangency of two circumferences represents the connection between two realms, Natural and Artificial.
Materials
Silver, satin finish. To slow down the natural oxidation process of silver, the surface is treated with an hypoallergenic passivation process.
