FORMS OF CONTEMPORARY HERITAGE

FORMS OF CONTEMPORARY HERITAGE

Curated by @Eliana Negroni, for @agc.italy, a new exhibition on the theme "Forms of Contemporary Heritage" is opening in China with the valuable collaboration of the JCC Contemporary Jewelry Center. Grateful and honored to be among the invited artists.

"A look at Italian contemporary jewelry and its relationship with tradition, everyday life,
artistic practices, and the original skills of artists working in an international context. Together, a heritage of high craftsmanship and design, interacting with the forms of wearable art.

Starting from a reflection on the meaning of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) according to UNESCO's definition, with this exhibition we wish to offer an overview of the forms of contemporary heritage expressed by the culture of research jewelry.
Intangible Cultural Heritage, in UNESCO's general definition, aims to recognize human assets that are traditional, contemporary, and real, as "intangible cultural heritage does not only represent traditions inherited from the past, but also contemporary [rural and urban] practices in which different cultural groups participate."
The works exhibited in this context express the "group" operating within a dynamic framework, influenced by all the elements of the context in which these artists practice their art, linked to their background and professional skills, and to their relationship with the community of contemporary goldsmithing arts, composed of professionals and an increasingly wide audience of culture and art enthusiasts. History, heritage, and research in high craftsmanship play a fundamental role in the manifold forms of contemporary jewelry." E. Negroni
